The design elements in this box include the use of the knot holes occurring naturally in the birch. The front and back feature knotholes which are lined with walnut to match the interior. The lid is a rich, warm walnut. The total effect is one of allowing the natural artistic expression in the wood itself, coupled with contrasting splines finishing the corners, to come through. It is an art piece in itself and can be used to store precious items.
